With Casio’s HDR technology, each press of the shutter button actually takes several shots at different exposures and instantly combines them into a single image with a high dynamic range. This minimizes over exposed or under exposed areas in the image, creating a photograph that captures all the rich tonal gradation of the scene just as it appears in real life. The HDR technology also reduces the blur caused by a subject’s movements during continuous shooting, leaving only beautifully crisp, clear photographs.

The EX-ZR200 features Casio’s HDR-ART function for enabling anyone to create truly artistic photographs at the press of the shutter button, unlike anything possible with conventional cameras before. The function works by combining continuous shots with differing exposures and performing highly precise image analysis to locally change levels of contrast and color saturation. Users can select from three different processing levels of art effects. The HDR-ART function can also be applied to movies (only one level of art effect available), allowing them to produce dramatic movies from everyday scenes.

The EX-ZR200 combines continuous shots taken with high-speed burst shooting when the user is moving the camera, enabling powerful super-wide-angle shots. Users can choose wide-angle shooting modes equivalent to 14 mm or 18 mm.

The wide-angle 24 mm, 12.5x optical zoom lens offers zoom performance equivalent to a maximum of 25x optical zoom with Casio's Multi Frame SR Zoom, which actually combines a number of still images to maintain the image quality needed for high-resolution photography.

Casio Exilim EX-ZR10 Review - Features

Features
include a 7x optical zoom lens, which begins at 28mm and stretches to
196mm, and contains a single aspherical element within its construction.
While the range should suit most subjects, Casio claims the Multi Frame
SR Zoom option doubles this with 'virtually optical zoom quality', by
combining multiple shots into one. An HDR function, which blends
highlight and shadow detail from a number of images into one, is joined
by an HDR ART option, which does the same before boosting contrast and
saturation for a more pronounced effect, while a Slide Panorama function
works in much the same way as Sony's innovative Sweep Panorama mode to
create fuss-free panoramic images.

The camera also boasts
impressive movie functionality, with full-HD capture at 30fps
complemented with stereo sound recording and a mini HDMI output, the
latter of which can also be used to transfer images. With regards to
star attraction, the ZR10 captures slow-motion movies at a maximum rate
of 480fps, at a resolution of 224 x 160 pixels, and 40fps stills at just
shy of 10MP. Further settings, at different resolutions and frame
rates, are also provided, but it's debatable whether the video
functionality is of any real practical use, given that captured movies
don't even fill the full size of the camera's LCD screen, let alone a
larger computer display or television.    

The sensor is a
back-illuminated CMOS chip, which is equipped with a shifting system for
image stabilisation. Its construction differs from the standard
front-illuminated sensors in that the wiring and transistors are located
behind the photodiode, making it easier for light to reach each
photosite. This increases sensitivity, which in turn creates less noise,
and so is useful for small-sensor compact cameras which traditionally
struggle in suboptimal conditions. It also allows extra functionality -
such as that which facilitates high-speed shooting - to be incorporated
onto the sensor without having a knock-on effect on image quality.   

Casio Exilim EX-ZR10 Review - Performance

In
use, the camera is responsive and operates discreetly, with little
noise from the lens. The high resolution of the screen shows images with
great depth and clarity, and the feed remains smooth and responsive to
changes in brightness as the camera is presented with different
subjects. Sadly this standard isn't matched by the plain and uninspiring
menu system, but descriptions are clear throughout, and all the more
impressive functionality is clearly illustrated with images and text for
each function.

The camera's focusing system also works well to
bring images to focus quickly, with the Intelligent AF mode rapidly
adjusting itself to any changes in the scene. Thanks to noise reduction
technology courtesy of NEC, both zooming and focusing are relatively
quiet too. Shot-to-shot times are excellent, with the camera ready to
capture straight after an image has been taken - even while processing -
and image playback is unaffected by any lagging or slowing down that's
common to many other cameras.    

Casio Exilim EX-ZR10 Review - Image Quality

There's
a lot to like about the ZR10's images, too. Colour leans more towards
vibrant and punchy than faithful but exposures are largely accurate,
save for the odd overexposure. The auto white balance stays accurate in
typical shooting conditions, and even under artificial light fares well,
although neutral areas often appear a touch cold with a noticeable blue
cast. There's surprisingly little distortion from the lens at
wideangle, though, even when shooting close to the subject.

The
main problems are only apparent when images are viewed close up. While
at smaller sizes they appear detailed, at 100% it's clear how much of
this is down to oversharpening, which robs them of their neutrality and
produces defined edges. Fortunately, sharpness may be lowered to one of
two levels in-camera, which makes images more suitable for enlargements.
Noise and noise reduction artefacts are also common to images taken on
even lower sensitivities, which again are more of an issue the more you
magnify into them. Finally, images shot using the Multi-Frame Zoom SR
option don't quite validate Casio's 'near-optical quality' claims,
instead appearing fine at small sizes and decidedly watercolour-esque at
anything larger. 

Verdict

The EX-RZ10 delivers a performance that puts rival compacts to shame, and it's bursting with both useful and novelty features. While the punchy and well-exposed results make image quality more than satisfactory at default settings, a little experimentation is recommended for really getting the most out of the camera.

Casio unveils EX-G1 rugged compact camera( World's Slimmest Shoke-Resistence Digital Camera)

Casio America, Inc. and its parent company, Casio Computer Co., Ltd., announced today the release of the EX-G1 shock-resistant, waterproof, dustproof digital camera—the first in the company’s new EXILIM® G brand of digital cameras. With its smart design featuring functional beauty, the EX-G1 embodies Casio’s endurance-minded features and specifications in a sleek 0.78-inch** low-profile camera.

Casio first introduced the shock-resistant G-SHOCK® timepiece to the world in 1983.  The G-SHOCK brand remains extremely popular among consumers and adventure enthusiasts around the globe thanks to its distinctive, unique design, rugged toughness and practicality, even under severe environmental conditions. In 2000, Casio launched the G’zOne™, a durable, water-resistant mobile phone.

Casio is positioning the EXILIM G brand in an “endurance” category, which demonstrates its determination to create digital cameras suitable for top athletes and adventurers. The endurance category caters to those who never quit challenging both extreme conditions and their own limits. The new model was developed to embody this brand concept, using Casio’s years of experience creating technologies for shock resistance, waterproofing and slim-line design.

The EX-G1 is designed with shock-resistant elements throughout the camera, both inside and out, creating a smart look in a slim-line camera with functional beauty. In addition to capturing high-resolution 12.1 effective megapixel images, the EX-G1 also features modes such as interval shooting and multi-image capture which utilize the camera’s endurance qualities. The interval shooting function can automatically take still photos or movies at fixed intervals, enabling users to capture great shots while engaged in active sports such as snowboarding or cycling***.

Through rigorous testing, the EX-G1 has been designed and created with a shock-resistant shell which passes drop tests including multiple falls from seven feet.****  Featuring a two-layer construction with a stainless steel outer-casing, the EX-G1 inner body withstands shock and water damage. The camera’s intelligent design is constructed with a resin cover to protect the body side near the shutter and a resin lens ring to protect the lens.

The technologically-advanced design features waterproof performance and corresponds to IEC/JIS Protection Class 8 (IPX8) waterproofing. The EX-G1 can be used at depths at 10 feet for 60 continuous minutes*****. Water will not penetrate the camera even when directly sprayed with jets of water from every direction corresponding to Protection Class 6 (IPX6). Capable of withstanding temperatures as low as 14°F*****, Casio’s EX-G1 boldly captures images where any adventurer goes.

The EX-G1 will hit shelves in December 2009 with an MSRP of $299.99 and will be available in black and red.

Slim-line Design with Toughness Construction

• Shock Resistance
  The EXILIM G EX-G1 offers the world’s thinnest profile* of .78 inch (excluding protruding parts) in a shock-resistant digital camera. The camera passed multiple drop tests of seven feet based on Casio’s own standard**.
• Waterproof/Dustproof
  The EX-G1 offers waterproof performance corresponding to IEC/JIS Protection Class 8 (IPX8) waterproofing, and can be used for 60 continuous minutes at a water depth of 10 feet***. It also withstands water jets corresponding to IEC/JIS Protection Class 6 “IPX6” waterproofing, and can be directly rinsed under running water. The EX-G1 is also impervious to dust, with performance corresponding to IEC/JIS Protection Class 6 “IP6X” dustproofing.

Shock resistant/waterproof construction and design

• Exterior
  The outer body of the EX-G1 is made from stainless steel to withstand external shocks while a polycarbonate cover absorbs shocks to the body side near the shutter. The camera’s wrist-strap holder is made of die-cast zinc to withstand drops while a rotating lock secures the external memory slot cover. For additional protection, the EX-G1 comes with two types of detachable protectors to absorb shocks.
• Internal construction
  The waterproof inner body of the camera is made from polycarbonate reinforced with fiberglass while a buckle-lock construction is added to absorb impact, using fewer screws to secure the inner body. Additionally, the camera’s frame comes equipped with speaker and microphone filters to prevent water from penetrating the camera.
• Lens
  To prevent damage to the camera’s lens, a resin ring as been added around the glass casing to ease shocks to the lens area. With the addition of a reinforced, glass lens cover, the EX-G1 is tooled with a multi coating that is water-repellent and prevents light reflection from ruining pictures. To further protect the camera from impact, high-performance damping material has been added to protect the lens unit from external shocks.
• LCD panel
  The acrylic plate to protect the LCD from water pressure and shocks is 1.5 times thicker than conventional point-and-shoot cameras. The LCD panel features a resin mount to ease shocks to the LCD panel area.

BEST SHOT® functions befitting a waterproof, shock-resistant camera

• Interval shooting
  The interval shooting function allows users to automatically take still photos or movies at fixed intervals while engaged in action sports such as cycling, snowboarding, and wind surfing*5. With the EX-G1, users can take powerful photos from inside the action, the kind which are usually almost impossible to capture. The shooting interval can be set at 10 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute, or 3 minutes, and the capture time for movies may be set at 3, 10, 20, or 30 minutes
• Great for a variety of outdoor photography scenes
  The BEST SHOT function enables users to take beautiful photos just by selecting the desired subject scene. The EX-G1 includes additional BEST SHOT settings suitable for various outdoor situations, such as “snow” and “beach” scene settings, which automatically adjust to prevent subject underexposure due to the brightness of snow or sun. There is also an “underwater” setting to control the tendency of underwater photos to come out looking too blue.

This thin stylish model features a large 2.5-inch monitor with 230,400 dots of high resolution and a non-extending 3X zoom lens ranging from 38-114mm (35 mm film camera equivalent).

Intelligent AF
When the camera is pointed at a desired shot, the Intelligent AF function automatically detects the photo subject even if it is not a human face and determines the focus and exposure area accordingly.

Advanced Dynamic Photo function
Casio’s original Dynamic Photo function, which creates composite moving images using the camera’s own high-speed image processing technology, now does even more.  When a moving subject is cut out of a number of images and combined with a different still shot that forms the background, the size of the subject can be changed to suit the background image.  Additionally, the Dynamic Photo video can easily be converted in-camera into a motion JPEG movie file.  Moving graphics such as hearts and bouquets of flowers are included so that users can have fun decorating their still images using the Dynamic Photo function.  Casio not only allows users to have fun taking and viewing photos, but also provides innovative new ways for them to create original images, right on the camera.

Wide Screen Movies
The camera also features a wide format (16:9) Movie function.  Just press the dedicated Movie button to take beautiful movies at 848x480 pixels.

London, 31 May 2010 — Casio Electronics Co. Ltd presents two new models in the EXILIM product family. Moving scenes at a distance or difficult lighting conditions are a barrier to taking good photos for many cameras. But the perfect moment pays no attention to ideal photo conditions. The new EXILIM models successfully meet this challenge. Whereas the EX-H5 expands the successful segment of hi-zoom cameras at CASIO, the EX-FH25 combines the high-speed technology with the new "high sensitivity CMOS sensor" for high-speed photo and film sequences in a quality never seen before. Both digital cameras can also record HD videos in a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.

EXILIM EX-H5 – hi-zoom for everyone
Thanks to a 24 mm wide-angle lens with 10 x optical zoom, mechanical image stabilizer using CCD shift technology and 12.1 effective megapixels, photographers are prepared for any scene with the
EX-H5. It is the ideal "tag along" camera as a result of its compact casing. No matter whether at family parties, out with friends or weekend trips - the EXILIM EX-H5 will capture all the great moments of life in high quality. The EXILIM EX-H5 also has a 6.9 cm (2.7 inch) TFT colour screen and such familiar functions as Landscape, Make-up or Art Short Mode as well as the new, improved Dynamic Photo function and numerous BEST SHOT scene programs.

The heart of the new digital camera is the EXILIM Engine 5.0 and this provides better quality in terms of colour brilliance, noise suppression and image editing. Bad light, dusk or darkness? No problem for the EXILIM EX-FH25. With the new "high sensitivity CMOS sensor" each individual scene is recorded in outstanding brilliance and clarity. As a result of much higher light sensitivity compared to traditional sensors and the reduction of noise at the same time images are recorded with brilliant colours, strong contrasts and sharp details even in poor lighting conditions.

With the 20 x optical zoom with a mechanical image stabilizer, a powerful 26 mm wide-angle lens and a resolution of 10.1 megapixels, users have complete freedom to select their scene. Wide-ranging landscapes, large-scale sights and romantic sunsets are captured just as easily as distant objects zoomed up close. Even at 20 x optical zoom, the CMOS shift image stabilization significantly reduces the risk of lack of focus from shaking.

The familiar high-speed series captures special moments with up to 30 photos per second and a resolution of 9 megapixels. And those who press the shutter a little too late no longer need to get annoyed: the pre-record mode starts the recording as soon as the shutter is half pressed.

With the aid of high-speed film recording with up to 1000 images per second, the EX-FH25 can capture fast movements that the human eye cannot see. The user can choose between different recording speeds.

Ambitious hobby photographers who mainly want to take photos of fast scenes from nature or sport will really love this camera. The EX-FH25 offers a range of BEST SHOT modes for high-speed photo and film series. For high-speed lighting, for example, the camera takes three photos in a fraction of a second and each one has different light settings. These three photos are then automatically combined to make a perfect image. Other BEST SHOT modes are the High-speed Anti Shake that makes photos that tend to be unfocused due to hand movements clear and sharp.

Casio releases EX-S200 and EX-Z800 digital compacts

Casio Computer Co., Ltd., announced the release of the new EXILIM® Card EX-S200 and EXILIM ZOOM EX-Z800 cameras, marking the latest additions to the EXILIM family of digital cameras. Both cameras sport advanced features in a slim, compact and stylish body, including a Super Resolution Digital Zoom that extends the zoom range.The 14MP image-stabilized cameras feature the company's latest Exilim Engine 5.0 processor with 'super-resolution' context-sensitive image processing technology.

Premium Auto enables the camera to automatically analyze the scene being photographed — including distinguishing night scenes, back lighting, a blue sky, green trees or a sunset — as well as sensing whether there is a face in the frame, the movement and position of the subject, and whether a tripod is being used. It simultaneously optimizes settings for exposure, ISO, sensitivity, focus location, photo blur correction, tonal range and color balance, and level of noise reduction. Dynamic Photo function for creating composite moving images
These cameras offer Casio’s original Dynamic Photo function, which makes it easy for users to create “moving photos” right on the camera by cutting moving subjects from the background in images taken with continuous shooting, and combining those images on a different still or moving image background. With Dynamic Photo on these cameras, it is possible to make multiple characters move independently of each other against a background of moving images up to as long as 20 seconds. Art Shot and Art Conversion functions create photos with the look of a painting
