A patent application filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office unveiled the latest technology being used in Mocrosoft’s Kinect motion-sensing Xbox 360.Kinect will use a software named PrimeSense, which will detect the body movements of its user and then a comparison will be drawn between the user and the skeletal body. With the help of this technology, the skeletal avatar, just like the user, will be able to identify the precise points of movements in any player or model.Gizmodo, the technology weblog, stated that the technology used in Kinect will help in detecting the body movements of the user with the help of depth mapping, voicecontrols, and a video camera.
When Marc Whitten, Corporate Vice President of Xbox, was questioned whether the technology will cater to all the users, he replied, “I do, yeah. From our user testing and betas around the world, I can tell you the navigation is actually going incredibly well. It's very smooth, it's very simple, and people are finding it easy and fun to navigate to content that they want, both with motion and with voice”.The Kinect will be sold at a price rate of £129.99 and is likely to be released before the Christmas season.
